This is a Japanese dessert I had at a little 2nd floor sweet shop in
Asakusa, Tokyo. How time flies! It's been more than half a year now. I remember I was there with Kitty and Polar, tho I didn't have the chance to take a shot of what they had ordered. Anyway, it was an exhilarating experience, not least cos the dessert was really nice n the presentation so delightful.

Was excited to find a shop in Marina Sq offering these Japanese style desserts n determined I had to try it some day. It was a little different from the Tokyo style. The shop's tagline was Hokkaido sweets, so maybe Polar n KKH (n May, after u come back from ur trip :) ) can tell us if it's really similar to the desserts in Hokkaido. Or whether the shop we have here is already localised.
The menu was rather extensive. It actually is a Jap restaurant, with the usual noodles n rice bowls n tempura n stuff, the only difference being that they had a dessert menu on offer. N the desserts were all listed on the front page :) So, I guess, tt gives an inkling of wat's the main item of interest here :)

After scrutinising the menu for a long time, I finally ordered this
macha ice cream wif rice dumplings n red bean paste. It was rather difficult to choose.... tho the difficulty may come more from the variations in the items rather than the actual variety on offer. Hmmm... wat do I mean by tt?

Well, for instance, this other dessert which is made of jelly cubes (hidden below, so can't see it in the picture), soft-serve ice cream, red bean paste, rice dumplings, coloured mochi bits n chopped fruits.
There are variations such as all of the above ingredients excluding the red bean paste. Or all of the above, excluding the rice dumplings. Or all of the above without the jelly cubes. Or just soft-serve ice cream n red bean n fruits. Or something like tt. U get the idea?

Anyway, tt was a long description :) Well, the desserts were both very nice. I was just too full after dinner to eat more than a couple mouthfuls of each. The next time I go, I shall have to be there wif an empty stomach :)
Price-wise, I think it is comparable to wat we had in Tokyo. Taste-wise, it's not bad too, tho I sorta forgot wat the Tokyo one tasted like. Just dun think I will have this everyday tho. Perhaps it was more to satisfy the curious child in me :)
