Good news
A guilty conscience over the thot that I've failed N cos of not delivering on the project (by saying I can't do it, see previous post) had me troubled for the whole of Friday. N I had to rethink quite a lot of things.
The conclusion: I am grateful that Jesus died for me on the cross, so that I can have a clean conscience, my sins are washed away, I can inherit all the goodness of heaven. Not because I deserve it. Cos I certainly didn't, being the human beanie I am, imperfections, idiosyncrasies, sins n all.
N that is the Good News.
That Jesus came n took my place.
Taking all the rubbish that He didn't deserve (namely our sins n separation from God's presence amongst tons of other things ok). That we may have all the good things that we don't deserve - forgiveness of sins (Paul calls it God not counting our sins against us anymore. See 2 Cor 5:19), unhindered access into God's presence, access into heaven n a GADZILLION other good things tt we can't even begin to imagine.
Make no mistake my frens. We definitely don't deserve it. Tt makes Jesus n the cross all the more precious, if we'll stop n think abt it for a minute. Now, tt should make us the most joyful pp in the whole wide world :)
"Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"
Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled."
"You have judged correctly," Jesus said.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
